WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) — The Wausau city council has approved changes to the fee schedule for using the 400 Block.
The new policy would charge groups running free public events 50 dollars for using the block for four hours or less and 100 dollars for any time over that. That schedule would bump up to 150 and 300 dollars for private and admission based events. The move also will require groups that had previously been exempt from rental payments to once again pay fees for the usage of the space.
That change came out of a recommendation from the city’s parks and recreation committee. Officials from the parks department say that the costs of upkeep on the Block after events was getting excessive, and hey needed a way to recapture some of those funds.
City officials hope the new schedule will help raise around $3,400 dollars a year from park usage.
