WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) — The first of Wausau’s three municipal swimming pool reconstruction projects is done, and opens to the public today. Kiaser Pool, next to Thom Field at the end of Bridge Street, will welcome their first swimmers. The nearly 3-million dollar total rebuild includes water slides and other ammenities, such as a climbing wall and in-water play structures.
City leaders will be there for the ribbon cutting, which will take place at 12:30 p.m.
Kiaser Pool is the first of the three swimming pools slated for reconstruction. Memorial Pool is next, and should be done one year from now. Then, Schulenburg Pool on the city’s north side by Jefferson School will be rebuilt. The three pools had all been in service for years, and needed expensive repair or replacement. Wausau went ahead with the long-term solution to replace the old pools at a cost of around 9 million dollars.
