WAUTOMA, Wis. (WSAU) — People in the Wautoma area learning how to drive are scrambling to find a new driving school. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says the Auto Focus Driving Academy is no longer licensed to provide driver training services to students. The department did not say why.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has recently obtained student enrollment information from Auto Focus Driving Academy, and is identifying local options for students to complete their driver education.
Driver Services Bureau Supervisor Deb Kraemer says the DMV is contacting students by mail with personalized information that includes what is required to complete their driver education, information on other area driver training schools, and on how to recoup lost tuition payments through Auto Focus Driving Academy’s state-required bond.
Wisconsin DMV does not conduct training courses, but they do license independent driver training schools and instructors across the state to ensure they meet state laws regarding curriculum, vehicle safety, and instructor training. A listing of driver training schools is available online at the Wisconsin Department of Transportation website.
