RHINELANDER, Wis. — Ashlee Martinson appeared before a judge this afternoon. She’s the Rhinelander area girl accused of killing her parents, locking her three sisters in a bedroom, and then fleeing with her boyfriend. The 17-year-old Martinson appeared by video before Oneida County Judge Michael Bloom shortly after 3:30 to enter initial pleas to five felony charges — two of first-degree intentional homicide, and three counts of false imprisonment.
Martinson’s attorney Amy Lynn Ferguson entered pleas of Not Guilty by Reason of Mental Disease or Defect for her client. The court will appoint psychologist to evaluate defendant.
Martinson is accused of shooting her 37-year-old stepfather Thomas Ayres and her 40-year-old mother Jennifer Ayres at their home near Three Lakes on March 8th. The younger sisters, ages 2-to-9, escaped injury after being locked in their room.
Martinson and her boyfriend, 22-year-old Ryan Sisco, were captured the same day on Interstate-65 about 25 miles north of Indianapolis.
Court records said Ayres had warned Ashlee’s boyfriend to stay away from her, because she’s a minor. He was given a deferred prosecution agreement in which a charge of having sex with a minor would be dropped if he follows the state’s conditions. One of the conditions is to testify against his girlfriend.
Martinson remains in jail held on a $750,000 dollar cash bond. The court scheduled a status conference scheduled for September 28, 2015 at 11:30 am.
