STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) — The 90FM World’s Largest Trivia Contest is less than a month away, and one of the coordinators says now is the time to start getting ready for Trivia Weekend.
This is the 46th year of the Contest, and this year’s theme is Guardians of the Trivia. The contest runs 54 straight hours, and pits thousands of people across the world in a marathon session of pop culture, history and general knowledge questions.
Coordinator Jim Oliva says this is about the time when serious teams start their major planning for the weekend. “At this point in time it’d probably be good to have a team meeting in advance, just getting together, letting people know what’s going on, where’ you’re going to be playing from.” Oliva says you should also be working out your reference material. “What are you gonna use for books, what are you going to use for notes, who has notes, comic books, DVD that they might bring along, of course computers that they’ll have.”
Oliva also says that he’d enjoy seeing people bringing in newcomers to the Contest this year, and that if your team is a little light, do some recruiting. “People that are going ‘well we need more players’, well, okay, everybody go out and get one person to play, or a family or three people or whatever ,and see if you can expand your team that way.”
Registration for teams playing outside of Stevens Point is now open. Team registration is 75 dollars, and you need to register by April 6. The Contest starts April 17.
