WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) — State agriculture, education and legislative leaders will be in Wausau today to celebrate National Ag Day with Northcentral Technical College.
The ceremony will be at the Agricultural Center of Excellence on the north side of Wausau. NTC Marketing coordinator Kelsi Seubert says classes and degrees offered at NTC and other colleges are key to the future of the industry. “The industry for agriculture in Wisconsin is $88 billion annually, and we want to recognize the integral part the technical colleges play in supporting that industry though a skilled workforce.”
Seubert says agriculture is a lot more than just farming and dairy, and that the Technical Colleges are helping expand the horizons. “There’s really a lot of different industries in support of agriculture in Wisconsin, and we are proud to play a premier role in training those individuals to make an impact in those industries.”
Wisconsin Ag Secretary Ben Brancel will join Technical Colleges System President Morna Foy, NTC President Dr. Lori Weyers and local officials and students for the event. Seubert says the public is encouraged to come out and check out the Agricultural Center of Excellence. “They’ll be able to learn more about our ag programs, we’ve got dairy science, agribusiness, we’re working on new programs in crop production, so there’s a lot of great information.”
That program starts at 10am this morning.
