UNDATED (WSAU) —
Department of Transportation officials have announced some road closures that begin next week.
Highway 161 near Iola in Waupaca County will be closed Monday through Friday as workers replace culverts on the Little Wolf River. Traffic is being detoured using Highways 10 and 22.
The other closure starting Monday is part of a project that was scheduled to start earlier this week. The I-39 and Highway B interchange at Plover will have the shoulders of the off ramps closed so temporary stoplights can be installed. It’s part of preparations for the Highway 54 detour, as crews get ready to build a roundabout at the Highway 54 and Maple Drive intersection south of the Business 51 and Highway B stoplights. Highway 54 and Maple Drive construction is slated to start May 18th.
A new project set to begin Monday is on Highway 97 from Highway 29 to Mueller Street in Athens. Crews will be resurfacing the highway and making drainage improvements around Snow Road and Mt. View Lane. Motorists should expect lane closures and flagging operations, so plan a little extra time to travel through this area.
In the Wausau area, the ramp from Highway K to southbound Highway 51 is set to reopen Friday, May 1st. The northbound Highway 51 off ramp to Highway K is scheduled to reopen Monday. Crews plan to close the northbound Highway 51 off ramp to Highway U as early as Monday to complete concrete barrier and shoulder work. That ramp is expected to be closed about a week.
In Wood County, motorists can expect lane closures and flagging operations on Highway 10 between Wood County BB and Robin Road starting Monday. The road is currently scheduled to close Monday at 6 a.m. to replace culverts. It is scheduled to reopen before the end of the day on Friday, May 15. During the closure, traffic will be detoured via WIS 73 and WIS 80.
