OGEMA, Wis. (WSAU) — Price and Taylor County deputies are searching for a man they believe abandoned a vehicle and hid in the woods after a high-speed chase Thursday. Isaac U. Laplander is at large after leading officers in both counties at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour on Highway 13.
Officers believe Laplander was the driver of the stolen 2014 Chevy Camaro that was taken from Calumet Michigan, used in this chase, and abandoned in a private yard after eluding officers. Deputies also learned the car was used in an attempted robbery in Hurley, Wisconsin.
The chase started at 8:49 a.m. as he was southbound heading from Price to Taylor County. Shortly after officers lost him, an area resident called to report a suspicious individual was just in his yard, and had left the vehicle to run into the woods.
Taylor County investigators believe Laplander stole another car to escape. They are looking for a blue 2001 Saturn with license plate 433-WHA. Anyone spotting that vehicle is encouraged to contact law enforcement immediately, and do not try to make contact with him. He may be dangerous.
Laplander is a 36-year-old white male with short hair and no glasses.
