WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) — Wausau leaders have selected a preferred redevelopment for the former Grand Avenue Kwik Trip property.
The Economic Development Committee Thursday had to choose between an insurance office or a pair of health care businesses. Chairman Bill Nagle says the committee felt that part of Wausau would really benefit from something they don’t currently have. “The committee voted to go with the Young’s Pharmacy, with a small walk-in Marshfield Clinic area there.” Nagle says, ” I thought the neighborhood would benefit from a neighborhood drug store. This is basically going to be just drugs, medicine, you know, over the counter drugs, and then a small area there where Marshfield Clinic will staff it with people to test for strep throat, and treat some injuries, things like that, so I thought it would be beneficial to the neighborhood.”
The Economic Development Committee’s recommendation still has to pass the full city council before the development can proceed. So far, this project has not been added to Tuesday’s council agenda, but that may change later today.
