IRMA, Wis. (WSAU) — A Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputy was called to help a distressed dog inside of a vehicle.
Just after 9:30 PM Friday, a couple from Madison was traveling north when their small dog got its leash caught on a seat lever, causing the leash to become wrapped up. The dog struggled to free itself but the more it struggled the more the leash became wrapped causing the leash and collar to choke the dog.
The couple stopped the car on US Hwy 51 near Irma. They phoned the Sheriff’s Office for help as they were unable to free their dog who was now struggling to breathe. The couple held and calmed the animal while the deputy put his knife under the dog’s collar and cut it, freeing the animal.
The dog has no injuries, and is doing fine.
