STAR LAKE, Wis. (WSAU) — The victims of a Saturday afternoon crash in Vilas County remain hospitalized, and investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
Deputies say 51-year-old Eric Sather of Conover was eastbound on County Highway K when he crossed the center line and hit a pickup truck driven by 67-year-old John Schroeder of New Holstein. Schroeder’s wife, 67-year-old Jane Schroeder, was riding with him.
John Schroeder was taken by helicopter to Aspirus Hospital in Wausau. Jane Schroeder was taken to Howard Young Medical Center. Sather was taken to Eagle River Memorial Hospital and then was flown to St. Joseph’s in Marshfield.
The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Vilas County Sheriff’s Department.
