MARSHFIELD, Wis (WSAU) — The Marshfield school district’s tradition of holding graduation on Memorial Day weekend is coming to an end.
That’s following a vote of the Marshfield Board of Education on Wednesday night, and board president Marlene Stueland says that starting in 2017, graduation will be held the first weekend in June. “Graduation will be on June 3rd, it will not be on Memorial Day Weekend. We had some feedback that Memorial Day was a prime time when people liked to enjoy a three day weekend.”
In other business Wednesday night, the Marshfield school board also approved the hiring of a Technology Integration Specialist as part of a plan to provide as many as 3900 iPads to students in the district over the next ten years. An athletic facilities plan was also discussed.
