(San Francisco, CA) — Green Bay receiver Randall Cobb now says he punctured a lung while trying to catch a long pass in the Packers’ playoff loss at Arizona last month. And he says it might have been caused by a small battery pack he was wearing that had a microphone.
Cobb tells the Bill Michaels radio show at Super Bowl-50 in San Francisco that a punctured lung would often be accompanied by a broken rib — but he never fractured a rib, so the battery pack was one possible reason that Cobb and the Packers’ medical staff came up with.
However, Cobb says there’s no way to prove it — and he feels much better now. The injury occurred as Cobb made a falling one-handed catch on a 51-yard gain that was wiped out by off-setting penalties.
