HAZELHURST, Wis. (WXPR) — The public is invited to an upcoming open house to comment on four remaining issues in the proposed Willow Flowage Scenic Waters Area Master Plan.
The area in western Oneida county is a popular recreation destination, offering a variety of activities.
A first round of public comment helped prepare a draft master plan but has left four key areas the DNR would like to hear more input. That’s according to Willow Flowage property manager Tom Shockley.
The other comment points include more options for open dates and motorized use of Iron Gate Road…length of stay options on proposed campsites on the Lower Tomahawk River, and a potential deep water boat landing on the west side of the flowage.
An initial draft plan has been completed, but Shockley says four key points have been established for further public comment. One involves the possibility of land sales to local towns for residential growth, the second is additional options for open dates and motorized use of Iron Gate Road, plus others. “The third issue is length of stay on some newly proposed campsites located along the Tomahawk River. The final issue involves the possibility of developing a new, deep water boat landing on the property’s west side.”
