WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WSAU) — The newest member of the League of Wisconsin Municipalities Board is the Wisconsin Rapids mayor.
Zach Vruwink was appointed to the 16-member board, and will serve through October of 2018. His first meeting with the body is Friday.
Vruwink issued a statement saying, “I am pleased to join the League of Wisconsin Municipalities to represent the interests of Wisconsin Rapids and municipalities across the state. Wisconsin is successful when its cities and villages are strong and I look forward to serving to achieve this.” The Wisconsin Rapids native and small business owner has served as Mayor of Wisconsin Rapids since 2012.
The League Board establishes the strategic direction for the organization, which advocates for Wisconsin’s cities and villages, provides legal services to League members and provides training and networking opportunities. The agenda for the February 12 meeting includes an update on recent legislation including economic development proposals like the Tax Incremental Financing proposals moving through the Legislature that are supported by the League as well as some of the over 230 bills introduced in January.
