WAUSAU Wis. (WSAU) — Wausau’s Fire Department has again recruited from a nearby department. The city hired Mosinee’s Fire Chief Josh Klug as the new Deputy Chief for the Wausau Fire Department.
Wausau hired Chief Tracey Kujawa from Stevens Point in April of 2014.
Klug has extensive experience in the Merrill, and Mosinee departments. He obtained an Associate’s Degree in Fire Protection Technician from Fox Valley Technical College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire & Emergency Response Management from UW Oshkosh.
Mayor Jim Tipple says Josh Klug holds multiple state and national certifications and occasionally instructs fire classes for Nicolet and Northcentral Technical Colleges.
Klug and his wife Megan currently reside in Mosinee with their three children who attend Trinity Lutheran School on Stewart Avenue in Wausau.
He fills the Deputy Chief position that was left vacant when Phil Rentmeester left the department in March of 2015 to become Marathon County’s Emergency Management Coordinator.
