MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers haven’t won a series with the St. Louis Cardinals since May of 2014, and that fact did not change Sunday, as the Brew Crew lost 5-1 at Miller Park in the rubber match.
Junior Guerra, the best pitcher for the Crew on the active roster this season, gave up two home runs in a start for only the second time in 13 games this season. Milwaukee’s only run came from the Brewers’ lone representative on the All-Star Team, Jonathan Lucroy, who singled in the first inning to bring home Jonathan Villar. Cardinals pitcher Mike Leake threw seven complete innings with only six hits.
The Brewers are 38-49 at the All-Star break. Jonathan Lucroy’s appearance for the National League All-Star squad will not have Brewers Radio Network coverage. Friday begins a series with the Cincinnati Reds, pregame coverage starts at 5:35 p.m.
