ROTHSCHILD, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — One day after a video was released of Donald Trump’s conversation about women with former Access Hollywood host Billy Bush, candidates in Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District are speaking out.
Republican incumbent Sean Duffy told WAOW Newsline 9 that Trump’s comments were disgusting and said that as a father of five daughters, Trump’s comments do not reflect his values or his views on women.
However, Duffy did not withdraw his endorsement of the GOP nominee.
“I didn’t agree to support him because of what he’s done in his personal life,” Duffy said. “I’ve agreed to be supportive because I agree with the policies more than Hillary Clinton’s policies.”
Duffy’s opponent, Democrat Mary Hoeft, released a statement about Trump’s comments.
“Duffy has become one of Donald Trump’s top apologists in the nation,” Hoeft said in the statement. “It’s time for Sean Duffy to condemn Donald Trump once and for all.”
Trump’s conversation detailed his opinions on his pop culture stardom and his affect on women, claiming “when you’re a star, they let you do it,” among other more vulgar comments.
