TOWN OF PELICAN, WI (WSAU) — If you live in Oneida County and you’ve been expecting a letter or package, it may have been sitting inside of a stolen car.
The Oneida Co. Sheriff’s Department received a complaint last Thursday, January 12th, that a car was stolen from the Town of Pelican. The vehicle was located two days later in Rhinelander with mail to many different addresses inside.
The suspect, Alexander Durand, has been arrested. Oneida Co. Captain of Investigations Terri Hook says the addresses of the mail range all across the county, and it’s unknown at this time whether Durand would have gathered the mail in only the few days that the car was in his possession.
The captain says the sheriff’s office will be in contact with those whose mail has been located once it’s sorted through. Durand remains in custody on a $15,000 cash bond.
