WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) The Marathon County SWAT team surrounded a home on Wausau’s west side early Friday morning while police executed a search warrant. Police arrested 35-year-old Bennie Green.
Green was considered armed and dangerous, so Wausau PD called for back-up at the 100 block of Maple Street. The stand-off lasted for several hours. No shots were fired as the man was taken into custody peacefully.
Police say they had been seeking the man for several days. He was wanted in connection with a shots-fired incident on North 3rd Avenue on February 21. No one was injured in that incident.
Green is the subject of a felony warrant from Colorado. He’ll face an additional charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Some streets were blocked off and some Eastbay employees were delayed getting to work.
Police say they’ll provide more information on the incident later today.
