STEVENS POINT, Wis. – UW-Stevens Point Director of Athletics Daron Montgomery has accepted a position as director of intercollegiate athletics at NCAA Division II Saint Anselm College in Manchester, N.H. His last day at UW-Stevens Point will be Jan. 6, 2016.Saint Anselm ReleaseMontgomery joined UW-Stevens Point in July 2011 after 13 years at NCAA Division I Detroit Mercy.During his tenure at UW-Stevens Point, the Pointers competed in 15 WIAC team championships and many NCAA team appearances, including baseball’s appearance in the 2013 College World Series. UW-Stevens Point volleyball competed in NCAA Division III national semifinals in the 2013 and 2014. The men’s ice hockey team advanced to the national championship in 2014 and 2015, and men’s basketball won its fourth NCAA national championship.In addition, several student-athletes earned individual national championships and recognitions, including 22 All-Americans, one National Player of the Year and four Elite 89 award-winners.”We will miss Daron’s enthusiasm, creativity and dedication to UW-Stevens Point and Pointer Athletics and appreciate his contributions. We wish him well in his new position,” said Al S. Thompson, vice chancellor for student affairs.Interim plans will be made in January 2016.
