MINNEAPOLIS, MN (WSAU) – Wisconsin rallied in the second half to win their annual rivalry game against Minnesota, 28-14, on Saturday in Minneapolis. The game was tied 14-14 at halftime.
Quarterback Tanner Mordecai threw touchdown passes to Will Pauling and Riley Nowakowski. He also ran for a career-high 69 yards.
The Badgers defense gave up a touchdown on the Gophers opening drive of the game, but played lights-out for the rest of the afternoon. Hunter Wohler finished with 12 tackles for Wisconsin.
The trophy for the rivalry game in Paul Bunyon’s Axe, which had resided in Minnesota’s trophy case for the last two seasons. The Badgers players rushed to the end zone to reclaim the trophy once the game ended.
Wisconsin finishes the regular football season with a 7-5 record, and 5-4 in Big Ten play. The Gophers finish 5-7. Both teams will likely play in a post-season bowl game.
