MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The number of new coronavirus cases reported in Wisconsin Thursday is near the seven-day average of 810.
The state Department of Health Services reported 839 new cases Thursday, a decrease from 884 new cases Wednesday.
Thursday’s 4.7% positive rate was below Wednesday’s 5.2%.
Officials reported 16,867 negative test results Thursday, an increase from 16,139 negative test results Wednesday.
An additional 8 people have died from COVID-19, the DHS reported, with the total now at 978.
Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, there have been 1,019,630 people have been tested, with 57,779 positive cases and 961,851 negative test results.
The DHS considers 47,221 patients to have recovered from the new coronavirus with the number of active COVID-19 cases on Thursday at 9,562 according to the DHS.
The DHS says Wisconsin hospitals are reporting that 2,518 beds are immediately available out of the 11,528 total beds.
There are 251 total COVID-19 patients seeking care with 104 in the ICU, 8 more ICU patients than what was reported Wednesday.
There are 92 hospital patients are still waiting for COVID-19 test results.
The state has a supply of 1,998 ventilators with 340 in use.
DHS and the Wisconsin Hospitals Association caution that adjustments to hospital data are being made to meet changes recently mandated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
