WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – The Wisconsin Rapids Police Department has raised enough money to add a second canine unit.
Thanks to members of the community, the department was able to select K9 Kubo to join them. K9 Kubo will be paired with his human partner officer Jacob Paltz.
Lieutenant Mike Potocki said this second unit will mean more availability of K9 resources.
“Now when we have one K9 off, we’ll have the other one on, and vice versa,” he said. “So we’ll always have a K9 on. One is on days, one is on nights.”
K9 Kubo will begin training with his handler in October. He will report for duty five weeks later.
