MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — A three-run homer run from Eugenio Suarez was more than enough for the Cincinnati Reds in a 4-1 win over the Brewers on Saturday.
The seven-year veteran took starter Chase Anderson deep in the first inning, bringing home Joey Votto and Phillip Ervin, giving the Reds an early lead.
That was the start of a rough outing for Anderson who was chased with two outs in the 4th inning in favor of Corbin Burns. Anderson gave up four hits and three runs (two earned) along with two walks and two strikeouts.
Burns then kept the Reds down over the next 5.1 innings; allowing just one hit and one earned run while walking three. But the Brewers offense failed to take advantage.
Milwaukee’s lone run came in the 8th on a sac fly by Brock Holt that scored Ben Gamel. He was on 3rd after recording a double two batters earlier. Omar Navarez moved him to 3rd on a single just before the Holt flyout.
No player on either side recorded multiple hits in the game. In fact, the two sides combined for just nine hits overall. Four of those hits went for extra bases.
The same two teams will wind down their weekend set on Sunday. Pregame coverage on WSAU begins at 12:35 on WSAU with first pitch just after 1 PM.
