CHICAGO, IL (WSAU) — After blowing a one-run lead in the 8th the Milwaukee Brewers scored two in the 10th to top the Cubs on Saturday.
Chicago jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after two before Justin Smoak laced a two-RBI double and Luis Urias beat out a grounder to first to bring Smoak home to tie the game in the 4th. Orlando Arcia would then bring Ryan Braun home by reaching on a fielding error in the 6th.
Urias would prove to be the hero in the 10th as he recorded the game-winning RBI on an infield single that brought home Avisail Garcia.
The Cubs did get one back in the bottom of the 10th on an RBI groundout by Ian Happ, but Alex Claudio was able to limit the damage to earn his first save of the season.
Urias led the way at the plate for the Crew going 3-4 with two RBI and a walk. Braun and Garcia also recorded two hits each.
Starter Adrian Houser struggled early for the Brewers but was able to settle in for five innings. He allowed three earned runs on five hits while walking three and striking out five.
The win went to reliever David Phelps (2-1) who, despite allowing one hit, was able to keep the Cubs off the board in the 9th to get the game to extras.
The same two teams wrap up the series today. Pregame coverage can be heard starting at 12:45 on WSAU.
