MILWAUKEE, WI (Wisconsin Radio Network-WSAU) As Democrats hold their mostly virtual convention based in Milwaukee, President Trump was in Oshkosh on Wednesday for an in-person rally on Monday. Vice President Mike Pence will be in Janesville on Wednesday.
Wisconsin Democratic Party chair Ben Wikler says that shows which party is taking the coronavirus pandemic seriously: “This pandemic has changed all of our lives for the worse… the economic pain of the shutdown… the challenge and heartbreak of kids not being able to go to school… this all comes from Trump refusing to take Coronavirus seriously.”
Wikler says holding large-scale campaign events is irresponsible. “Trump is pretending there’s no pandemic.”
Democrats have moved their convention to an on-line and virtual event, while Trump held a campaign rally at the airport in Oshkosh. “He’s [Trump] walking around at in-person events, while Democrats are taking every precaution to put the public’s health first, even if it means changing how we do things,” Wikler said.
Pence will speak at Janesville’s Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport, with Air Force II touching down at 11:05 a.m.
The Democrats virtual convention runs through Thursday, with Joe Biden giving his acceptance speech from Delaware.
