WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The suspect in April’s stabbing incident near Stratford that killed two brothers has entered a not guilty plea to two counts of first-degree intentional homicide.
Brandon Noll was in a Marathon County courtroom on Monday via Zoom where he entered the plea and a judge scheduled a pre-trial conference for October 27th.
The 22-year-old is then accused of stealing a car and leading officers on a chase from the home he shared with his mother and the father of the victims, Michael Louis Stone and William Raymond Stone, to Marshfield where he crashed the vehicle, stole another one, then crashed it as well before authorities caught up with him.
The chase took place in foggy conditions as well.
Noll ultimately told authorities that he had been planning the attack for several days. Officers say he stabbed one of the brothers while he was playing video games, then chased the second one upstairs before stabbing him.
The first victim tried to call for help, but Noll took the phone away. Another person in the house was able to connect to first responders and call for help.
According to the criminal complaint Noll had previously expressed a desire to kill because he wanted to know what it would be like to “take a life.” He wanted to do so in a quick manner and said he considered shooting the brothers but that would make too much noise. He’s being held on a $5 million cash bond.
In addition to the charges of first-degree homicide and stealing the vehicle, Noll faces charged in Wood County of hit and run.
