MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The work week closed with another uptick in recent coronavirus averages in Wisconsin.
The state Department of Health Services reported 878 new coronavirus cases on Friday, raising the seven-day average to 703. There were also 8,313 negative tests. The 9.2% positivity rate pushed the seven-day average to 8.4%, its highest point since early May.
DHS also reported two new deaths, below the seven-day average of six.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 73,981 confirmed coronavirus infections and more than 1.1 million negative tests.
As of Friday, DHS listed 65,265 people as having recovered from COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus.
Hospitalization information had not been updated for the day as of early Friday afternoon.
