MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers used the longball to top the Pirates 7-6 on Sunday evening.
That included homers from Christian Yelich in the first inning, Orlando Arcia in the 7th, and a two-run, walk-off tater from Eric Sogard in the 9th to seal the win.
Despite the win, Milwaukee was out hit by Pittsburgh 10-7 in the game. Four of the Brewer’s hits came from Yelich and Arcia who each finished 2-4 on the day. Both players also finished with one RBI and two runs scored.
Brett Anderson got the start for the Brewers and went five innings but did not factor in the decision. He allowed nine hits but just four earned runs before turning the game over to the bullpen. Freddy Peralta, Eric Yardley, and Alex Claudio would allow just one hit and no runs over the next three innings.
Josh Hader did blow a save opportunity in the 9th. Devin Williams would then pick up the win in just .2 innings of work.
The same two teams will continue their four-game weekend wraparound series on Sunday. Pregame coverage begins at 12:35 on WSAU.
