MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The University of Wisconsin Health System has been selected as a testing location for a potential COVID-19 vaccine being developed by pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca.
The study will be conducted at 100 clinical sites across the country and involve around 30,000 participants. Around 1600 of those will be accepted at the University Hospital site.
Those participating in the study will either receive the vaccine or a placebo and will be monitored for a period of two years. Regular checks will include physical exams, blood pressure monitoring, and COVID-19 testing.
Those interested in signing up for the trial must meet the following criteria:
- At least 18-years-old
- Healthy or have medically stable chronic disease
- Cannot have a previously confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19
