WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A sentencing hearing was held today for Jordan Meyer, one of the teens accused in the baseball bat beating of another teen over a drug deal.
Meyer was sentenced to three years in prison and three years of probation by Marathon County Circut Court Judge Greg Strasser but stayed the sentence for six years of probation. Meyer will be able to avoid prison time if he successfully completes his six years of probation.
Meyer has also been ordered to apologize to the victim, earn a high school diploma, and perform 250 hours of community service. He also cannot have contact with any of the other boys involved in the attack or the victim and his family outside of the apology letter.
Benjamin Dickerson was sentenced last month to eight months in jail followed by community service for his role in the attack. Michael Hrobsky has a plea hearing scheduled for November 3 and Brendan Griffin has a sentencing hearing set for November 18.
Two days after the incident, there was a drive-by shooting in Wausau in connection with the beating. Several shots were fired, but no one was injured.
