MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU)– The Milwaukee Brewers made some roster moves this past week to remake their 40 man roster.
Among the moves was the trade of pitcher Corey Knebel to the Los Angeles Dodgers for cash or a player to be named later.
The team also signed arbitration eligible players Orlando Arcia, Omar Narvaez and Manny Pina to contracts in which each took a pay cut from last season.
Arcia signed for $2 million. Narvaez, after a horrible offensive season, signed for $2.5 million and Pina for $1.65 million. Daniel Vogelbach also signed a one year deal for $1.4 million.
Players not tendered contracts before the deadline were Ben Gamel, Alex Claudio and Jace Peterson.
Josh Hader and Brandon Woodruff, also arbitration eligible, were offered contracts.
The Brewers also added to their catching depth earlier in the week by signing Luke Maile to a major-league deal. He has played parts of five seasons with Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh.
Another move was the signing of 3rd baseman Zach Green to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. Green was a 3rd round pick of the Phillies in 2012 and has been injured much of his career. He saw some big league time with the Giants in 2019.
