MADISON, WI (WSAU) — A pair of Collin Larsh field goals was all the offense the Badger football team could muster in a 14-6 loss to Indiana on Saturday in Big Ten play.
It was another tough outing for Redshirt Freshman QB Graham Mertz, who finished with 20 completions for 202 yards and one interception.
Mertz was given the chance to engineer what could have been a game-tying drive in the final four minutes when the Hoosiers punted, giving the Badgers the ball back at their own 8. Fourteen plays and 71 yards later the drive stalled on an incomplete pass on 4th and 10 from the IU 21.
The Hoosiers then kneeled the clock out for the final 46 seconds.
Jalen Berger led the rushing attack with 87 yards.
Larsh’s kicks came from 28 and 29 yards.
Wisconsin falls to 2-2 with the loss with one game left on their schedule. that’s next weekend against Iowa. Wisconsin will then play another unknown opponent from the Big Ten East Division that is to be determined based on final divisional standings.
The Badgers are also eligible for bowl selection regardless of their record due to the NCAA suspending bowl-eligibility requirements for the 2020 season. Though it remains unclear how many bowl games will be played this year due to COVID-19.
