Colorado Rapids defender Auston Trusty signed a contract extension that will run through the 2023 season, the team announced Wednesday.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The move comes one day after the Rapids signed defender Lalas Abubakar to a new contract through the 2024 season with a club option for an additional year.
“We’re delighted to announce a new contract for Auston,” Rapids executive vice president and general manager Padraig Smith said in a statement. “Auston is a young, talented defender who has already proven himself in MLS and shown tremendous potential. We look forward to seeing his continued development over the coming years.”
Trusty, 22, recorded one assist in eight games (five starts) during his first season with the club in 2020.
Trusty has collected two goals and two assists in 64 career games (61 starts) with the Philadelphia Union (2016-19) and Rapids.
