WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Seven candidates have emerged for four seats on the Wausau School Board in April’s spring election.
In a release on Wednesday, Administrative Assistant Cassie Peck announced those candidates include two incumbents and five challengers:
- Nicolas Bisgrove
- Jon Creisher
- Kay Gruling
- Patrick McKee
- Cody Nikolai
- Karen Vandenberg
- Tricia Zunker
Zunker currently serves as the board’s President. McKee is the Vice President. Not included on the list are Jeff Leigh and Beth Martin, who were also on expiring terms in 2021. Martin filed non-candidacy papers shortly after the nominating period opened in December.
The group of Nikolai, Creisher, and Vandenberg announced their candidacy in a joint statement on December 1st. The trio says they plan to campaign on improving communication between staff and parents and making sure Wausau provides a “world-class” education for families.
Creisher and Vandenberg are first-time candidates. Nikolai ran for a spot on the board in 2020 and fell just 75 votes short of election.
