RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU) — There’s been a change in the Rhinelander area regarding snowmobile trails.
WAOW-TV reports that Oneida County snowmobile trails will not be opening Saturday as originally planned. According to a release, the forestry department says the decision comes after further consideration and evaluation of trail conditions.
The release says the Oneida County Snowmobile Council apologizes for any inconvenience but believes this is the right decision.
It was initially reported that the Oneida County Snowmobile Council voted 7-2 this week to open trails Saturday morning. That decision was then reversed on Friday. Trails are currently listed as in “extremely rough, early-season” shape. Lake trails are currently considered unsafe.
