Kyle Lowry scored 23 points, grabbed nine rebounds and handed out seven assists Monday night as the Toronto Raptors, playing at their temporary home in Tampa, defeated the Dallas Mavericks 116-93.
It was the first time this season that the Raptors have won three in a row and it was the third straight loss for the Mavericks.
Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle was ejected after picking up two technical fouls with 58 seconds left in the first quarter.
Pascal Siakam added 19 points for the Raptors, who were playing the third game in a stretch of five in a row at home. Chris Boucher added 21 points and 10 rebounds off the bench, Norman Powell scored 17 points and OG Anunoby had 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Kristaps Porzingis scored 23 points and pulled down nine rebounds for the Mavericks in the opener of a three-game trip. Luka Doncic added 15 points, nine assists and seven rebounds for Dallas, Trey Burke had 17 points, James Johnson had 15 points and Jalen Brunson scored 13 points.
Toronto took a nine-point lead into the fourth quarter and used a 9-0 run to lead by 16 points with 9:13 to play.
Fred VanVleet’s 3-pointer with 5:27 to play stretched the lead to 21 points.
Toronto was on top 22-18 after the first quarter.
The Raptors increased the margin to 10 points on a layup by Terence Davis with 5:27 to play in the second quarter.
The Mavericks used a 13-2 surge to take a one-point lead on Brunson’s 3-pointer with 2:22 to play in the half, and the score was 47-47 at halftime.
Powell’s 3-pointer capped a 16-2 run that gave the Raptors a 14-point lead with 3:24 left in the third quarter.
Burke’s layup and free throw cut the deficit to seven with 17.6 seconds remaining in the third quarter, but Lowry’s buzzer-beater gave Toronto an 81-72 lead after three quarters.
Dorian Finney-Smith, Maxi Kleber, Dwight Powell and Josh Richardson were out for Dallas because of health and safety protocols. Toronto’s Alex Len also was out for the same reason.
