WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A man is facing an abuse charge after a family member was found lying in their bathroom after several days.
Larry Uttecht, 71, is facing a felony charge of intentionally subjecting an at-risk individual to abuse, that caused bodily harm. The charge comes after a family member Uttecht was supposed to be taking care of was found lying on a floor in her own feces and urine after several days. The 72-year-old family member was taken to a Wausau hospital and was covered in sores consistent with lying in the same position for a long period of time.
According to the criminal complaint, Uttecht told police he had a bad back and couldn’t lift the woman from the floor. He said he tried to give her food while she was on the floor but the attempt was unsuccessful. Uttecht then told police he “goofed up” by not calling for additional help as he thought he could handle the situation on his own.
Uttecht will return to court on February 19th for an initial appearance. He is not in custody at this time.
