WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Joe Biden will on Wednesday deliver remarks on the U.S. response the Feb. 1 military coup in Myanmar, the White House said.
Biden was expected to announce sanctions on those responsible for the takeover, according to a person familiar with the matter.
The United States has already determined the military’s actions a coup d’etat, triggering restrictions on aid to the country, and Biden has threatened to impose fresh sanctions.
