MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — New coronavirus numbers and overall activity remain low on this frigid Valentine’s Day.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services on Sunday is confirming just 503 new cases of COVID-19 for a third consecutive day of confirmed cases below 1,000.
Sunday’s 503 new cases is the lowest in a day since the DHS confirmed 266 cases on August 31 of 2020.
12% of Sunday’s total test results came back positive, down from Saturday’s 16.7%.
The seven-day case average continues to shrink as it has now fallen to 782 on Sunday.
One new COVID-19 death is being confirmed by the DHS.
Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 555,303 positive cases, over 2.5 million negative test results, and 6,162 deaths.
The DHS considers 537,955 patients to be recovered from COVID-19, while 11,027 cases are active.
Wisconsin continues to inch closer to 1 million total COVID-19 vaccines administered, as the DHS says they have reached 965,999 administered doses on Sunday.
707,966 people have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose, while 239,442 people have completed the vaccine series.
