Overall, Rocky County farmers had a very good harvest last year. The county produced a higher crop for corn and soybeans than any other county in Wisconsin. USDA reports that farmers in Rock County had 27.2 million bushels by the end of harvest season this past fall. In second place was Dane County, then Lafayette, Dodge, and Grant County.
Looking at corn alone, Lafayette County took the top spot with 205.2 bushels per acre. Dodge County came in second with 202.3 bushels per acre, Green with 195.1, Rock had 194.4, and Iowa County produced 192.5 bushels per acre. The average county in Wisconsin had a yield of 174 bushels per acre, while the state total was 516.7 million bushels for 2020. Lastly, corn silage production hit 20.3 million tons, which is up 10% from 2019. Looks like there were some positives in 2020 after all.
