LA CROSSE and OSHKOSH, WI (WSAU) — Pewaukee and Wauwatosa East are your Division 2 and 1 Boy’s Basketball state champions after winning semifinal and title games on Saturday.
The Pirates topped Lake Mills 65-51 in their semifinal game then ousted Onalaska 54-37 to win the championship in La Crosse.
The Hilltoppers were the top seed in the Division 2 tournament and had beaten Xavier 66-57 to earn a spot in the night game.
The Division 1 bracket played out in Oshkosh where Wauwatosa East went 2-0 defeating River Falls 56-48 then Kimberly 62-44. The Papermakers earned their spot in the title game with a 63-42 win over DeForest.
Both Championship games were played in front of sold-out crowds with social distancing protocols in place.
The games represented the end of the winter sports season for the WIAA, which was moved up to accommodate this year’s spring football and volleyball season for those schools who opted-out of the fall season in those sports.
