MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The Wisconsin women’s basketball team concluded a disappointing 5-19 season with a first round loss to Illinois in the Big Ten Tournament 67-42 on Tuesday in Indianapolis.
Coach Jonathan Tsipis was relieved of his duties after the game. He coached for five years in Madison. AD Barry Alvarez said a new direction was needed and a search for a new coach would start immediatly.
The Badgers were 0-18 from the field in the first quarter and fell behind 24-2 shooting a season-low 25% for the game. The Badgers were out-rebounded and gave up 15 points on 15 turnovers.
Imani Lewis had 11 points and 11 rebounds to lead Wisconsin.
