MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — More than a third of Wisconsinites 65 and older have received both doses of coronavirus vaccine.
Wednesday’s update from the Department of Health Services showed 33.4% of seniors having completed their two-dose course of vaccines and 63.4% having received at least one dose.
Overall, 1,779,404 doses have been administered to people 16 and older in Wisconsin. Of those, 1,113,632 (19.1% of the population) were first doses and 626,472 (10.8%) have been final doses.
Meanwhile, the report showed 516 new confirmed cases of coronavirus infection, or 11% of the 4,701 tests done. Fourteen more people died of COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus.
Rolling seven-day averages declined to 388 cases and nine deaths per day. It was the first time since Sept. 29 that the seven-day average of deaths was less than 10.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 567,850 confirmed cases and 6,524 deaths. DHS lists 554,639 people as having recovered from COVID-19.
Wisconsin hospitalization numbers were expected to be updated later Wednesday afternoon.
