MADISON, WI (WSAU) — It’s been a good run of good luck for lottery players at Piggly Wiggly in East Troy.
Lottery officials say the store sold two $50,000 winning tickets for the March 10th Powerball drawing, the game’s 3rd prize.
Those tickets matched 4 of the 5 white balls and the Powerball for that drawing. The odds of hitting that prize are one in 913,000.
According to the multi-state Lottery association, which runs the Powerball game, an average drawing over the last year will generate about 17 such winning tickets. That makes the odds of having two such winners from the same state are already long. It’s unclear what the odds of having two 3rd-prize winners from the same retailer would be.
Last week’s win comes three months after the same location sold a jackpot-winning Megabucks ticket worth just over $1 million.
Lottery officials say the store will receive a $2,000 reward for selling the winning Powerball tickets.
