WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A regional COVID-19 vaccination center will open in Marathon County in early April according to county health officials.
Governor Tony Evers announced last month that Marathon County has been picked as one of six regional vaccine hubs. The location hasn’t been announced yet. The Wausau Center Mall, or buildings at UW-Stevens Point Wausau campus or North Central Technical College had been mentioned as possible sites. Details are still being finalized.
The Marathon County Department of Health says the clinic would be able to provide 200 doses each day.
Marathon County was selected for a vaccine clinic in order to address gaps in vaccine access. As previously reported, everyone currently eligible for vaccination will be able to schedule an appointment at the Marathon County clinic, regardless of where they live.
The state opened a regional vaccine site in the atrium at Lambeau Field earlier this week. Another site is being established in LaCrosse.
