MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — Brewers starter Brett Anderson was brilliant over seven innings on Saturday as Milwaukee topped Pittsburgh 7-1 at American Family Field.
Anderson went seven innings and scattered six Pirates hits while recording three strikeouts and yielding just one unearned run. He was backed up by a Brewers offense that broke out for seven runs over the first two innings without the help of the longball.
Milwaukee put up five runs in the first inning on four singles by Avisail Garcia, Billy McKinney, Luis Uras, and Jace Peterson.
All of those base hits came with two outs.
Keston Hiura followed that up with an RBI double in the second to plate Jackie Bradley Jr. Hiura then scored on a sac fly later in the inning.
Bradley Jr. led the offensive charge with three hits and two runs scored. McKinney added two hits as well.
With the win Milwaukee has now taken 12 of their last 15 home games against Pittsburgh. Game three of their weekend set is this afternoon with coverage beginning at 12:35 on WSAU.
