PHILADELPHIA, PA — (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers got Christian Yelich and Lorenzo Cain back in the lineup last night but still came up short in the opener of a four game series at Philadelphia. The Phillies picked up a 4-3 win on Monday night.
Cain led off the game with a long, solo home run for Milwaukee but the Phillies answered with four runs in the first two innings against Adrian Houser. He went six innings giving up the four runs on four hits with 2 strikeouts and one walk. Only two of the runs were earned after a Luis Urias throwing error in the second inning.
The Brewers added two runs in the 8th inning with Travis Shaw and Avisail Garcia getting the RBIs. The Brewers then loaded the bases in the 9th but could cash in.
Yelich went 2-4 in his return. To make room for Cain and Yelich on the roster, Tyrone Taylor and the struggling Keston Hiura were sent to the Alternate Training Site at Appleton.
The Brewers and Phillies play game 2 tonight. Pre game show at 5:30 on WSAU.
