PHILADELPHIA, PA (WSAU) — It’ll be a long flight for the Brewers as they mustered just three hits in a 2-0 matinee loss to the Philadelphia Phillies Thursday.
Those three hits all came from the bottom of the lineup, and two of them came from pinch hitters Lorenzo Cain and Avisail Garcia.
Both came on in the 9th inning and singled with one out to put the tying run on base, but Kolten Wong and Daniel Vogelbach were unable to drive them home.
The other Milwaukee hit came from Billy McKinney in the 3rd.
Alec Bohm opened the scoring with a solo home run in the 7th. Rhys Hoskins followed that in the 8th with an RBI double to score Andrew McCutchen.
Brandon Woodruff was charged with the loss in 6.1 innings. He allowed the opening home run to Bohm. Angel Perdomo finished off the remaining four outs, including the RBI double to Hoskins. Zack Wheeler went the distance for the Phillies to get the win.
Milwaukee will stay on the east coast this weekend as they start a three-game set against Miami Friday evening. Game one at LoanDepot Park is set to begin at 6:05, with pregame on WSAU starting at 5:35.
